Originally, man was made perfect--he had a perfect relationship with God. But Adam, the first man, sinned against God. Because God is a holy, pure and just God, he had to punish that sin, and that punishment was death and eternal separation from God in a place called Hell.
"For the wages of sin is DEATH" (Romans 6:23)
But "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
God loved us so much that he sent his perfect Son, Jesus, to die on a cross in our place. All we have to do is place our trust in Jesus--that his death was the only thing that could take away the penalty of our sin. We can never earn or deserve salvation, for we are all sinners (Romans 3:23), but because Jesus was perfect and sinless--He could die in the place of us all.
If you truly believe this, pray to God something to this effect:
"God, I realize that I am a sinner, and because of that, I deserve death in hell. I also realize that I am helpless to save myself. But I want to place my trust in Jesus alone for my salvation. Please save me. Thank you."
If you have just trusted Jesus we would love to hear from you so that we can help you get started in your Christian life. Please
